From October through April, Pahrump fills up. That's also when six months of summer storage comes home to roost: rigs that baked through a 110-degree Mojave summer get switched on all at once, and the capacitors, seals, and batteries that quietly died in July announce themselves in November. Book early in the season — a problem reported in October gets a faster slot than the same problem reported in January.
Summer flips the valley to its second speed. The tourist parks thin out, but the full-timers, workers, and off-grid residents who live here year-round are still running air conditioners flat-out through real heat.
